Using Surah Al-Maun, UMM Accounting Lecturer Wins Outstanding Award

On the occasion of National Awakening Day and Education Day, which took place on May 20, 2023, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang organised a celebration on the helipad field. This event included the recognition of exceptional professors, staff, and students through the awarding of awards. Dr. Masiyah Kholmi, MM., Ak., CA is an esteemed academician who has been recognised for his exceptional contributions as a lecturer in the area of sociopreneur mobilisation. He holds a permanent position as a lecturer in the Accounting study programme at UMM. With the possession of Al-Maun's correspondence, Masiyah Kholmi, Ph.D., Master of Management, Bachelor of Accounting, Chartered Accountant, effectively secured the prestigious accolade for exemplary teaching in the domain of sociopreneur mobilisation.

According to Masiyah Kholmi, a scholar with expertise in business administration and accounting, the Surah Al-Maun contains a verse that can be interpreted as a call for mutual assistance. This interpretation serves as a motivator for Masiyah to provide aid to others by utilising local wisdom that could potentially be applied.

The field of sociopreneurship has been associated with the involvement of Masiyah Kholmi, Dr., MM., Ak., CA since 1994. The author commenced his literary endeavours with the composition of a book titled "Cooperative Accounting". Subsequently, in the year 2015, he proceeded to pen another publication titled "Advanced Economic Movement". The individual exhibits a strong interest in the field of management accounting and the strategies employed to attain optimal cost effectiveness. He applies his expertise by offering encouragement and guidance to students and individuals with untapped potential. He attempted to uplift a society that was in a state of potential development. In this context, cassava is not merely considered a raw material; rather, it serves as a catalyst for motivating the community to engage in its development, resulting in the creation of novel commodities such as cassava chips and cassava cheese. This diversification of products aims to enhance the community's financial returns.

Dr. Masiyah Kholmi, MM., Ak., CA expresses the aspiration for the future to sustainably offer effective motivation to students with an interest in entrepreneurial development. Additionally, the aim is to support individuals embarking on entrepreneurial endeavours from the ground up, while also establishing economic clinics that foster the creation of new businesses through collaborative efforts within the PDA of Malang city.
